Big Canoe®

Big Canoe is a very diverse community with different styles of homes and price ranges. There are about 34 different neighborhoods. No gates or entrances to those neighborhoods. Just a little different feel and look.

Big Canoe is a large gated mountain community in North Georgia with dozens of distinct neighborhoods, streetscapes, and “villages” spread across more than 8,000 acres. While there is not always one universally agreed official list of exactly 34 neighborhoods, these are the most commonly recognized residential areas and sections buyers and agents refer to inside Big Canoe.  

Here’s a practical breakdown of the major neighborhoods/areas and what each is known for:

  • Choctaw Village — Central location, many mountain-view homes, convenient access to amenities.
  • Cherokee Village — Established homes, wooded lots, classic Big Canoe feel.
  • Cox Mountain — Higher elevations, long-range mountain views, privacy.
  • Disharoon — Near the swim club and Lake Disharoon recreation area.
  • Duffers Chapel — Golf-oriented area near the course and clubhouse.
  • Fords Crossing — Quieter residential setting with rolling terrain.
  • Founders Ridge — One of the newer luxury-home sections with upscale construction.
  • Lake Petit Area — Premium lake and mountain-view properties around the largest lake.
